Essential Phone Launched: Features, Specifications and Price

It’s official. The much-awaited Essential smartphone has been launched. Designed by Andy Rubin, who is regarded as the Father of Android, the Essential smartphone ships with a 5.7-inch QHD bezel-less display with modular touch. Powered by a Snapdragon 835 processor, the Essential Phones provides 4GB RAM for an optimum experience.

The highlight of the Essential phone is that it includes a 360-degree camera capable of capturing UHD videos. You can attach with the help of the two magnetic pins located on the rear side. If you work with the phone, you will feel premium because the handset is designed using titanium and ceramic materials.

The Essential Phone is equipped with a 5.7-inch QHD edge-to-edge Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protected display. The phone offers Snapdragon 835 processor alongside Adreno 540 graphics, 4GB RAM and 128GB internal storage. You will not be able to extend the storage using Micro SD card.

On the optics front, the Essential Phone ships with a 13MP dual RGB and monochrome camera sensor with f/1.9 aperture. Moreover, the sensor also includes features such as PDAF and laser autofocus. You will be able to record 4k videos at 30 fps. The handset also includes an 8MP front-facing snapper alongside f/2.2 aperture. The handset is loaded with Android 7.1.1 Nougat.

The company also provides a 360-degree camera that can be easily attached to the smartphone. Even though the camera is available for $150, you can purchase it for $49 for a limited time. The handset also ships with four microphones with noise canceling technology coupled with beam forming.

The Essential smartphone is powered by a 3040mAh battery with quick charge support. In addition to 4G VoLTE, the handset also provides support for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, NFC and US Type C. The highlight of the phone is the ditching of the traditional headphone port. You will not find the 3.5mm headphone jack. However, you can make use of the Type-C port for audio purposes similar to that of LeEco Le 2.

Priced at $699, the Essential phone is available in Black Moon, Stellar Grey, Pure White and Ocean Depths color options. If you are located in the US, you can reserve the handset.
