Samsung I9105 Galaxy S II Plus is one of those devices that tries to pack a lot into one package. Let us see if Samsung has managed to put together a phone that is actually worth your money. Announced in 2013, January. Released 2013, February, it arrives at a time when the competition is as tight as ever.
Design & Display
On the front you get a 4.3 inches, 52.6 cm 2 (~63.5% screen-to-body ratio) panel, pushing a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels, 5:3 ratio (~217 ppi density), which is more than sharp enough for everyday use, streaming and a bit of gaming. In terms of design, the Samsung I9105 Galaxy S II Plus keeps things modern and comfortable to hold. You can pick it up in a few finishes, including Chic White.
Performance & Software
Powering the Samsung I9105 Galaxy S II Plus is the Broadcom BC28155, paired with 1GB of RAM, which means smooth scrolling, quick app switching and no real hiccups in normal use. It runs Android 4.1.2 (Jelly Bean), upgradable to 4.2.2 (Jelly Bean), TouchWiz UI 5 out of the box, so the software experience feels current.
Camera
Photography is handled by a main 8 MP shooter that should cover most situations, from daylight shots to the occasional low-light frame. Expect solid detail in good light, with the usual softness creeping in once the sun goes down.
Battery
Battery duties are handled by a Li-Ion 1650 mAh, removable unit, which should comfortably see most people through a full day on a single charge.
Our Opinion
After spending time with the spec sheet and what Samsung is promising, here is where we land. This is a phone that does not try to be the flashiest option on the shelf, and honestly that works in its favour. It gets the basics right, offering a dependable main camera, a crisp display, which is exactly what most buyers are really after. For someone who simply wants a dependable daily driver that will not let them down halfway through the day, this ticks a lot of boxes. There are rivals that beat it in one area or another, as is always the case in this segment. Even so, the Samsung I9105 Galaxy S II Plus holds its own and represents a solid, no-nonsense buy.
