Samsung has added another interesting option to its lineup with the all-new Samsung Galaxy Z Flip6, and on paper it looks like a device that wants to be your daily driver. Announced in 2024, July 10, it arrives at a time when the competition is as tight as ever.
Design & Display
Up front there is a 6.7 inches, 101.5 cm 2 (~85.5% screen-to-body ratio) screen, pushing a resolution of 1080 x 2640 pixels (~426 ppi density). Colours look punchy and text stays clean, so you will not have much to complain about here. It is not trying to reinvent the wheel with its design, but it does look the part. You can pick it up in a few finishes, including Yellow.
Performance & Software
At the heart of it sits the Qualcomm SM8650-AC Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 (4 nm), paired with 12GB of RAM. For the kind of tasks most of us throw at a phone, there is plenty of muscle here. It runs Android 14, upgradable to Android 17, up to 7 major OS updates, One UI 9 out of the box, so the software experience feels current.
Camera
Photography is handled by a main 50 MP shooter that should cover most situations, from daylight shots to the occasional low-light frame. It is not a pro camera rig, but for everyday memories it gets the job done nicely.
Battery
There is a 4000 mAh battery inside, which should comfortably see most people through a full day on a single charge.
Our Opinion
After spending time with the spec sheet and what Samsung is promising, here is where we land. Samsung has clearly gone for substance over gimmicks here, and we respect that approach. It gets the basics right, offering a dependable main camera, a crisp display, which is exactly what most buyers are really after. For someone who simply wants a dependable daily driver that will not let them down halfway through the day, this ticks a lot of boxes. There are rivals that beat it in one area or another, as is always the case in this segment. Overall though, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip6 is easy to recommend to the right buyer.
