Samsung has added another interesting option to its lineup with the all-new Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra, and on paper it looks like a device that wants to be your daily driver. Announced in 2026, February 25, it arrives at a time when the competition is as tight as ever.
Design & Display
Up front there is a 6.9 inches, 115.9 cm 2 (~90.7% screen-to-body ratio) screen, pushing a resolution of 1440 x 3120 pixels, 19.5:9 ratio (~500 ppi density). Colours look punchy and text stays clean, so you will not have much to complain about here. It is not trying to reinvent the wheel with its design, but it does look the part. You can pick it up in a few finishes, including Cobalt Violet.
Performance & Software
Powering the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra is the Qualcomm SM8850-1-AD Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 (3 nm), paired with 12GB of RAM. That combination should handle day-to-day multitasking and most games without breaking a sweat. It runs Android 16, upgradable to Android 17, up to 7 major OS updates, One UI 9 out of the box, so the software experience feels current.
Camera
On the camera side, the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra is led by a 200 MP main sensor (200 MP, f/1.4, 23mm (wide), 1/1.3", 0.6µm, multi-directional PDAF, OIS 10 MP, f/2.4, 67mm …). Point-and-shoot results are reliable, and that is exactly what most buyers want.
Battery
Keeping the lights on is a Li-Ion 5000 mAh cell. With moderate use you can expect to end the day with charge to spare.
Our Opinion
So, what do we actually make of the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra? Samsung has clearly gone for substance over gimmicks here, and we respect that approach. It gets the basics right, offering strong battery life, a dependable main camera, a crisp display, which is exactly what most buyers are really after. If your priority is a phone that just works, day in and day out, then this one deserves a spot on your shortlist. You could nitpick a few things, as you can with any phone in this bracket. Even so, the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra holds its own and represents a solid, no-nonsense buy.
