Samsung has added another interesting option to its lineup with the all-new Samsung Galaxy S20 FE 2022, and on paper it looks like a device that wants to be your daily driver. Announced in 2022, April 01, it arrives at a time when the competition is as tight as ever.
Design & Display
On the front you get a 6.5 inches, 102.0 cm 2 (~85.7% screen-to-body ratio) panel, pushing a resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels, 20:9 ratio (~405 ppi density), and in real-world use it looks bright, crisp and easy on the eyes. The build feels well put together, and Samsung has clearly paid attention to the in-hand feel. You can pick it up in a few finishes, including Cloud White.
Performance & Software
Powering the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE 2022 is the Qualcomm SM8250 Snapdragon 865 5G (7 nm+), paired with 6GB of RAM. That combination should handle day-to-day multitasking and most games without breaking a sweat. It runs Android 12, One UI 4.1 out of the box, so the software experience feels current.
Camera
On the camera side, the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE 2022 is led by a 12 MP main sensor (12 MP, f/1.8, 26mm (wide), 1/1.76", 1.8µm, dual pixel PDAF, OIS 8 MP, f/2.4, 76mm (telepho…). Expect solid detail in good light, with the usual softness creeping in once the sun goes down.
Battery
Keeping the lights on is a Li-Ion 4500 mAh cell, and that is a healthy number that keeps range anxiety at bay.
Our Opinion
So, what do we actually make of the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE 2022? Samsung has clearly gone for substance over gimmicks here, and we respect that approach. It gets the basics right, offering strong battery life, 5G connectivity, a dependable main camera, which is exactly what most buyers are really after. In day-to-day use it feels like the kind of device you can rely on, whether you are replying to messages, scrolling through social media, watching videos or taking the odd photo. Is it perfect? No phone is, and you will always find a sharper camera or a faster chip somewhere else for a little more money. Even so, the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE 2022 holds its own and represents a solid, no-nonsense buy.
