Phone Opinions Review

The Samsung Galaxy S10e is Samsung's latest attempt to grab your attention, and after going through the spec sheet, there is a fair bit here worth talking about. Announced in 2019, February 20. Released 2019, March 08, it arrives at a time when the competition is as tight as ever.

Design & Display

On the front you get a 5.8 inches, 82.8 cm 2 (~83.3% screen-to-body ratio) panel, pushing a resolution of 1080 x 2280 pixels, 19:9 ratio (~438 ppi density), which is more than sharp enough for everyday use, streaming and a bit of gaming. In terms of design, the Samsung Galaxy S10e keeps things modern and comfortable to hold. You can pick it up in a few finishes, including Prism White.

Performance & Software

At the heart of it sits the Exynos 9820 (8 nm) - EMEA/LATAM Qualcomm SM8150 Snapdragon 855 (7 nm) - USA/China, paired with 6GB of RAM, which means smooth scrolling, quick app switching and no real hiccups in normal use. It runs Android 9.0 (Pie), upgradable to Android 12, One UI 4.1 out of the box, so the software experience feels current.

Camera

Photography is handled by a main 12 MP shooter that should cover most situations, from daylight shots to the occasional low-light frame. Expect solid detail in good light, with the usual softness creeping in once the sun goes down.

Battery

There is a Li-Ion 3100 mAh, non-removable battery inside. With moderate use you can expect to end the day with charge to spare.

Our Opinion

In day-to-day use it feels like the kind of device you can rely on, whether you are replying to messages, scrolling through social media, watching videos or taking the odd photo. There are rivals that beat it in one area or another, as is always the case in this segment. Even so, the Samsung Galaxy S10e holds its own and represents a solid, no-nonsense buy.
