Phone Opinions Review

The Samsung Galaxy S10 5G is Samsung's latest attempt to grab your attention, and after going through the spec sheet, there is a fair bit here worth talking about. Announced in 2019, February. Released 2019, April, it arrives at a time when the competition is as tight as ever.

Design & Display

The Samsung Galaxy S10 5G comes with a 6.7 inches, 112.0 cm 2 (~89.4% screen-to-body ratio) display, pushing a resolution of 1440 x 3040 pixels, 19:9 ratio (~502 ppi density), and in real-world use it looks bright, crisp and easy on the eyes. It is not trying to reinvent the wheel with its design, but it does look the part. You can pick it up in a few finishes, including Crown Silver.

Performance & Software

Powering the Samsung Galaxy S10 5G is the Exynos 9820 (8 nm) - Global Qualcomm SM8150 Snapdragon 855 (7 nm) - USA, paired with 8GB of RAM. For the kind of tasks most of us throw at a phone, there is plenty of muscle here. It runs Android 9.0 (Pie), upgradable to Android 12, One UI 4.1 out of the box, so the software experience feels current.

Camera

Photography is handled by a main 12 MP shooter that should cover most situations, from daylight shots to the occasional low-light frame. Expect solid detail in good light, with the usual softness creeping in once the sun goes down.

Battery

Battery duties are handled by a Li-Ion 4500 mAh, non-removable unit, and that is a healthy number that keeps range anxiety at bay.

Our Opinion

After spending time with the spec sheet and what Samsung is promising, here is where we land. What you are getting is a device that quietly covers the fundamentals rather than shouting about them. It gets the basics right, offering strong battery life, a dependable main camera, a crisp display, which is exactly what most buyers are really after. For someone who simply wants a dependable daily driver that will not let them down halfway through the day, this ticks a lot of boxes. You could nitpick a few things, as you can with any phone in this bracket. Even so, the Samsung Galaxy S10 5G holds its own and represents a solid, no-nonsense buy. If you have used this device or are planning to pick one up, do let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
