Samsung has added another interesting option to its lineup with the all-new Samsung Galaxy S II 4G I9100M, and on paper it looks like a device that wants to be your daily driver. Announced in 2011, July. Released 2011, July, it arrives at a time when the competition is as tight as ever.
Design & Display
On the front you get a 4.3 inches, 52.6 cm 2 (~63.5% screen-to-body ratio) panel, pushing a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels, 5:3 ratio (~217 ppi density). Colours look punchy and text stays clean, so you will not have much to complain about here. The build feels well put together, and Samsung has clearly paid attention to the in-hand feel. You can pick it up in a few finishes, including Black.
Performance & Software
Powering the Samsung Galaxy S II 4G I9100M is the Exynos 4210 Dual, paired with 1GB of RAM. That combination should handle day-to-day multitasking and most games without breaking a sweat. It runs Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) out of the box, so the software experience feels current.
Camera
The camera setup is one of the talking points here, with a 8 MP sensor doing the heavy lifting. Expect solid detail in good light, with the usual softness creeping in once the sun goes down.
Battery
There is a Removable Li-Ion 1700 mAh battery battery inside, which should comfortably see most people through a full day on a single charge.
Our Opinion
Coming to the important bit, our opinion on the Samsung Galaxy S II 4G I9100M. Samsung has clearly gone for substance over gimmicks here, and we respect that approach. It gets the basics right, offering a dependable main camera, a crisp display, which is exactly what most buyers are really after. In day-to-day use it feels like the kind of device you can rely on, whether you are replying to messages, scrolling through social media, watching videos or taking the odd photo. You could nitpick a few things, as you can with any phone in this bracket. Even so, the Samsung Galaxy S II 4G I9100M holds its own and represents a solid, no-nonsense buy.
