Phone Opinions Review

The Samsung Galaxy Note20 Ultra is Samsung's latest attempt to grab your attention, and after going through the spec sheet, there is a fair bit here worth talking about. Announced in 2020, August 05, it arrives at a time when the competition is as tight as ever.

Design & Display

Up front there is a 6.9 inches, 116.7 cm 2 (~91.7% screen-to-body ratio) screen, pushing a resolution of 1440 x 3088 pixels, 19.3:9 ratio (~496 ppi density), which is more than sharp enough for everyday use, streaming and a bit of gaming. In terms of design, the Samsung Galaxy Note20 Ultra keeps things modern and comfortable to hold. You can pick it up in a few finishes, including Mystic Bronze.

Performance & Software

At the heart of it sits the Exynos 990 (7 nm+) - Global Qualcomm SM8250 Snapdragon 865 5G+ (7 nm+) - USA, paired with 8GB of RAM. For the kind of tasks most of us throw at a phone, there is plenty of muscle here. It runs Android 10, upgradable to Android 13, One UI 5 out of the box, so the software experience feels current.

Camera

Photography is handled by a main 108 MP shooter that should cover most situations, from daylight shots to the occasional low-light frame. Expect solid detail in good light, with the usual softness creeping in once the sun goes down.

Battery

There is a Li-Ion 4500 mAh battery inside, and that is a healthy number that keeps range anxiety at bay.

Our Opinion

Coming to the important bit, our opinion on the Samsung Galaxy Note20 Ultra. Samsung has clearly gone for substance over gimmicks here, and we respect that approach. It gets the basics right, offering strong battery life, 5G connectivity, a dependable main camera, which is exactly what most buyers are really after. If your priority is a phone that just works, day in and day out, then this one deserves a spot on your shortlist. Is it perfect? No phone is, and you will always find a sharper camera or a faster chip somewhere else for a little more money. Even so, the Samsung Galaxy Note20 Ultra holds its own and represents a solid, no-nonsense buy. If you have used this device or are planning to pick one up, do let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
