Samsung has added another interesting option to its lineup with the all-new Samsung Galaxy Note20 Ultra 5G, and on paper it looks like a device that wants to be your daily driver. Announced in 2020, August 05, it arrives at a time when the competition is as tight as ever.
Design & Display
Up front there is a 6.9 inches, 116.7 cm 2 (~91.7% screen-to-body ratio) screen, pushing a resolution of 1440 x 3088 pixels, 19.3:9 ratio (~496 ppi density), and in real-world use it looks bright, crisp and easy on the eyes. The build feels well put together, and Samsung has clearly paid attention to the in-hand feel. You can pick it up in a few finishes, including Mystic Bronze.
Performance & Software
Powering the Samsung Galaxy Note20 Ultra 5G is the Exynos 990 (7 nm+) - Global Qualcomm SM8250 Snapdragon 865 5G+ (7 nm+) - USA, paired with 6GB of RAM. For the kind of tasks most of us throw at a phone, there is plenty of muscle here. It runs Android 10, upgradable to Android 13, One UI 5 out of the box, so the software experience feels current.
Camera
Photography is handled by a main 108 MP shooter that should cover most situations, from daylight shots to the occasional low-light frame. It is not a pro camera rig, but for everyday memories it gets the job done nicely.
Battery
There is a Li-Ion 4500 mAh battery inside. With moderate use you can expect to end the day with charge to spare.
Our Opinion
After spending time with the spec sheet and what Samsung is promising, here is where we land. This is a phone that does not try to be the flashiest option on the shelf, and honestly that works in its favour. It gets the basics right, offering strong battery life, 5G connectivity, a dependable main camera, which is exactly what most buyers are really after. If your priority is a phone that just works, day in and day out, then this one deserves a spot on your shortlist. There are rivals that beat it in one area or another, as is always the case in this segment. Even so, the Samsung Galaxy Note20 Ultra 5G holds its own and represents a solid, no-nonsense buy.
