Phone Opinions Review

Samsung has added another interesting option to its lineup with the all-new Samsung Galaxy Note20 5G, and on paper it looks like a device that wants to be your daily driver. Announced in 2020, August 05, it arrives at a time when the competition is as tight as ever.

Design & Display

Up front there is a 6.7 inches, 108.4 cm 2 (~89.2% screen-to-body ratio) screen, pushing a resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels, 20:9 ratio (~393 ppi density). Colours look punchy and text stays clean, so you will not have much to complain about here. In terms of design, the Samsung Galaxy Note20 5G keeps things modern and comfortable to hold. You can pick it up in a few finishes, including Mystic Green.

Performance & Software

At the heart of it sits the Exynos 990 (7 nm+) - Global Qualcomm SM8250 Snapdragon 865 5G+ (7 nm+) - USA, paired with 8GB of RAM. That combination should handle day-to-day multitasking and most games without breaking a sweat. It runs Android 10, upgradable to Android 13, One UI 5 out of the box, so the software experience feels current.

Camera

Photography is handled by a main 12 MP shooter that should cover most situations, from daylight shots to the occasional low-light frame. Point-and-shoot results are reliable, and that is exactly what most buyers want.

Battery

There is a Li-Ion 4300 mAh battery inside. With moderate use you can expect to end the day with charge to spare.

Our Opinion

Coming to the important bit, our opinion on the Samsung Galaxy Note20 5G. Samsung has clearly gone for substance over gimmicks here, and we respect that approach. It gets the basics right, offering 5G connectivity, a dependable main camera, a crisp display, which is exactly what most buyers are really after. In day-to-day use it feels like the kind of device you can rely on, whether you are replying to messages, scrolling through social media, watching videos or taking the odd photo. Is it perfect? No phone is, and you will always find a sharper camera or a faster chip somewhere else for a little more money. But taken as a whole, the Samsung Galaxy Note20 5G is a sensible, well-judged choice that should keep most users happy for a good while. If you have used this device or are planning to pick one up, do let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
