Xiaomi has added another interesting option to its lineup with the all-new Xiaomi 18 Pro Max, and on paper it looks like a device that wants to be your daily driver. Announced in 2026, September 23, it arrives at a time when the competition is as tight as ever.
Design & Display
The Xiaomi 18 Pro Max comes with a 6.9 inches, 116.2 cm 2 (~91.6% screen-to-body ratio) display, pushing a resolution of 1208 x 2624 pixels, 19.5:9 ratio (~418 ppi density), and in real-world use it looks bright, crisp and easy on the eyes. It is not trying to reinvent the wheel with its design, but it does look the part. You can pick it up in a few finishes, including Black.
Performance & Software
Powering the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max is the Qualcomm SM8975 Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 (2 nm), paired with 12GB of RAM. That combination should handle day-to-day multitasking and most games without breaking a sweat. It runs Android 17, HyperOS 4 out of the box, so the software experience feels current.
Camera
Photography is handled by a main 200 MP shooter that should cover most situations, from daylight shots to the occasional low-light frame. Point-and-shoot results are reliable, and that is exactly what most buyers want.
Battery
Battery duties are handled by a Si/C Li-Ion 8500 mAh unit, and that is a healthy number that keeps range anxiety at bay.
Our Opinion
So, what do we actually make of the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max? This is a phone that does not try to be the flashiest option on the shelf, and honestly that works in its favour. It gets the basics right, offering strong battery life, a dependable main camera, a crisp display, which is exactly what most buyers are really after. If your priority is a phone that just works, day in and day out, then this one deserves a spot on your shortlist. There are rivals that beat it in one area or another, as is always the case in this segment. Even so, the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max holds its own and represents a solid, no-nonsense buy.
