Following Oneplus One gets their Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow-based CM13 releases. Another Chinese smartphone maker UMi said they were going to develop this popular after-market custom OS CyanogenMod on their latest flagship all metal UMi TOUCH. According to the company, they finally get the agreement and received the codes to work on CyanogenMod OS 13.
The UMi TOUCH is one of the first came running with Marshmallow Android 6.0. It has already received two software updates via OTA in the past two weeks since its released in March. Users are hoping to receive CM13 soon.
However, It’s been more than five months since Google started rolling out its brand new Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system.
Many manufacturers like Samsung, have been extremely slow to release the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update. Because of the difficulty and difference of the source code. Not to mention UMi is porting a Mediatek phone to CM13, which just make it harder.
We have all the reason to believe this update might not get it anytime sooner. But if they did, UMi TOUCH going to be the first Mediatek phone got the hands on Marshmallow-based CM13.
