Meizu M3 released in April 2016 in China and followed by other countries. Meizu is continuously releasing their new smartphones from the beginning of 2016. Their portfolio is getting increased every month with the new arrivals.

Display

Meizu M3 has a 5-inch screen with IPS LCD. Screen resolution is 720 x 1280 pixels. In this HD resolution, the display clarity is above average with the screen density of 294 pixels per inch. The screen is made of the 2.5D arc curved glass.

There is no Corning Gorilla Glass in this smartphone. Instead, there is a cover glass named SCHOTT Xensation for scratch resistance.

CPU and GPU

The processor chipset in Meizu M3 is MediaTek’s MT6750 Octa-core Cortex – A53 with a maximum clock speed of 1.5GHz. The supported GPU is Mali T-860MP2. This is an excellent combination of hardware. We can expect good performance in multi-tasking and flawless smartphone experience.

RAM and Storage

There are two variants available based on the RAM and storage. First is the lower variant with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of inbuilt storage and the second is the higher variant with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of inbuilt storage. Though 2GB RAM is enough, 3GB RAM surely increases the performance. Storage can be expanded up to 128GB via SD card slot.

Software

The Flyme 5.1 User Interface which is based on the Android 5.1 Lollipop is the one installed in Meizu M3. We can expect the Marshmallow update for Flyme OS can be anytime soon. But, there is no confirmation or News yet from Meizu.

Camera

The primary camera on the rear side is the usual 13MP CMOS sensor with dual LED flash. It captures video at 1080 pixels at 30 frames per second. In the front, there is an average 5 MP camera.

Battery

Meizu M3 carries a 2870mAh battery. It is non-removable. There is no confirmed information about the fast charging feature for the battery.

Other Features and Connectivity

The fingerprint sensor, Dual SIM (second SIM or SD card slot), WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, USB type C, USB OTA, 4G LTE are the notable features we have found in this smartphone. One feature missing is the NFC, which is popular in the Western smartphones.

The price of Meizu M3 is only announced for China. The lower variant with 2GB RAM and 16 GB storage priced at Chinese Yuan 599 (approx.. Indian Rs.6,100 and US $93). The higher variant with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage priced at Chinese Yuan 799 (approx.. Indian Rs.8,200 and US $124).

Performance Expectation of Meizu M3

The hardware specs such as CPU, GPU and RAM are configured well in this device. The Octa-core processor is a decent one in Meizu M3. We consider the 3GB RAM is better than the 2GB variant to meet the performance expectation. This device will perform well for the long use based on the specs.
