LeEco Le Max 2 Specs, Price, Opinions, Pros and Cons

Le Max 2 is one of the recent release from the LeEco, a fats growing Chinese brand. In the past week, they released a set of three smartphones. Le 2, Le 2 Pro and Le Max 2. Here we look into the LeEco Le Max 2.

Compared to the other two smartphones Le 2 and Le 2 Pro, Le Max 2 is better of all the three in all configurations. It is ‘almost’ a high end Android smartphone while looking at its specs sheet. I used the term ‘almost’, as there are some missing features in this phone. Mainly, the LeEco’s decision to ditch the 3.5mm audio jack. It is one of the very common feature found in many varied devices like laptops, PCs, smartphones etc. Instead the Audio jack, they gave option to use the audio speakers through the USB type C port. They claiming the Audio via USB post is giving improved quality.

Other than this flaw (or wise decision!?), remaining features looks great with an aim to satisfy buyers looking for performance and high end specs. Take a look at the full specs below.

Display

Le Max 2 is one such power puffed smartphone in the present time. First of all, the screen of this device is 5.7inch with a stunning density of 515ppi. The resolution is 2560 X 1440 pixels. The screen clarity and sharpness is beyond our expectations. There is one thing we noted is the missing of protection to the screen. There is no Corning Gorilla Glass which is the best for protecting the screen.

CPU and GPU

After that is the CPU part where the Snapdragon 820 processor chipset is used. This is a Quad core Kryo type processor with maximum clock speed of 2.15GHz. It is coupled with the Adreno 530 Graphical processor.

RAM and Storage

This smartphone is available in three different combination of RAM and storage.

1. First Variant – 4 GB of RAM and 32GB of Internal storage
2. Second Variant – 4 GB of RAM and 64GB of Internal storage
3. Third Variant – 6 GB of RAM and 64GB of Internal storage

To be noted, while picking the variant is that there is no card slot available in this device to expand the storage.

Software

LeEco has its own skin user interface for Android OS. Their skin UI called eUI 5.5 is installed in this device. This is a skin UI for Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. Buyers no need to wait for any future update of Android OS, as the device already rolling in the latest Android software.

Camera

There is a 21 MP camera sensors in the rear and an 8 MP camera in the front. The rear camera enhanced with the Optical Image Stabilization (OIS). There is also LED flash available. The notable feature in the primary camera is that it can capture videos at 4K high definition. In the front camera, there is no flash or OIS. The front camera can catch videos at 1080pixels.

Battery

There is a non-removable 3100mAh battery. It has the Quick Charge 3.0. With this feature, 83% out of the total battery capacity can be filled in 30 minutes.

Other Features and Connectivity

First is the missing feature, which is the 3.5mm Audio jack. The audio output get replacement with USB type C based speakers. Other feature we found is Fingerprint sensor. Connectivity features such as WiFi, 4G LTE, 3G, Bluetooth 4.1, USB Type C are available.

Price of LeEco Le Max 2

The price is not yet official. But, the expected price is 2100 Yuan ($325 / 285 Euros) for the 4GB/ 32GB variant and 2500 Yuan ($389 / 342 Euros) for the 6GB/ 64GB variant.

Performance Expectation of LeEco Le Max 2

The Snapdragon 820 processor is very powerful. Along with a 4GB of RAM, it make a perfect combo. There is no doubt about the hardware performance mainly about multi-tasking, power gaming, heavy and longtime usage. The display is also a stunning configuration which encourage us to use the device more. Primary Camera has OIS feature which produces more high quality images with a 21MP camera. Front camera with 8 MP is above average. Battery looks decent and above average.

Opinion to Buyers – LeEco LE Max 2

Many experts have an opinion that Android smartphones not yet crossed the 4GB RAM usage. So, having a 6GB of RAM while a 4GB variant is available is not a good idea. At the same time, there is no storage option, which urges the buyers to go for 64GB variant. If you get the 4GB and 64GB variant model, you are lucky. Other than that, the price is reasonable for this configuration. Buyers must also think about the protective measures for the screen, as there is no Corning Gorilla Glass protection for the screen.
