Apple Watch Ultra is one of those devices that tries to pack a lot into one package. Let us see if Apple has managed to put together a phone that is actually worth your money. Announced in 2022, September 07, it arrives at a time when the competition is as tight as ever.
Design & Display
On the front you get a 1.92 inches panel, pushing a resolution of 502 x 410 pixels (~338 ppi density). Colours look punchy and text stays clean, so you will not have much to complain about here. It is not trying to reinvent the wheel with its design, but it does look the part. You can pick it up in a few finishes, including Titanium.
Performance & Software
Under the hood you will find the Apple S8, which means smooth scrolling, quick app switching and no real hiccups in normal use. It runs watchOS 9.0, upgradable to watchOS 26.6 out of the box, so the software experience feels current.
Camera
Photography is handled by a main shooter that should cover most situations, from daylight shots to the occasional low-light frame. Expect solid detail in good light, with the usual softness creeping in once the sun goes down.
Battery
Keeping the lights on is a Li-Ion 542 mAh cell, which should comfortably see most people through a full day on a single charge.
Our Opinion
Coming to the important bit, our opinion on the Apple Watch Ultra. This is a phone that does not try to be the flashiest option on the shelf, and honestly that works in its favour. It gets the basics right, offering a crisp display, which is exactly what most buyers are really after. For someone who simply wants a dependable daily driver that will not let them down halfway through the day, this ticks a lot of boxes. There are rivals that beat it in one area or another, as is always the case in this segment. Overall though, the Apple Watch Ultra is easy to recommend to the right buyer.
