Apple has added another interesting option to its lineup with the all-new Apple Watch Ultra 3, and on paper it looks like a device that wants to be your daily driver. Announced in 2025, September 09, it arrives at a time when the competition is as tight as ever.
Design & Display
The Apple Watch Ultra 3 comes with a 1.98 inches display, pushing a resolution of 514 x 422 pixels (~326 ppi density), which is more than sharp enough for everyday use, streaming and a bit of gaming. The build feels well put together, and Apple has clearly paid attention to the in-hand feel. You can pick it up in a few finishes, including Natural.
Performance & Software
Powering the Apple Watch Ultra 3 is the Apple S10. For the kind of tasks most of us throw at a phone, there is plenty of muscle here. It runs watchOS 26, upgradable to watchOS 27 out of the box, so the software experience feels current.
Camera
On the camera side, the Apple Watch Ultra 3 is led by a capable main sensor. Expect solid detail in good light, with the usual softness creeping in once the sun goes down.
Battery
Keeping the lights on is a Li-Ion 599 mAh cell, and that is a healthy number that keeps range anxiety at bay.
Our Opinion
So, what do we actually make of the Apple Watch Ultra 3? What you are getting is a device that quietly covers the fundamentals rather than shouting about them. It gets the basics right, offering a crisp display, which is exactly what most buyers are really after. In day-to-day use it feels like the kind of device you can rely on, whether you are replying to messages, scrolling through social media, watching videos or taking the odd photo. Is it perfect? No phone is, and you will always find a sharper camera or a faster chip somewhere else for a little more money. Overall though, the Apple Watch Ultra 3 is easy to recommend to the right buyer.
