The Apple iPhone is Apple's latest attempt to grab your attention, and after going through the spec sheet, there is a fair bit here worth talking about. Announced in 2007, January. Released 2007, June, it arrives at a time when the competition is as tight as ever.
Design & Display
On the front you get a 3.5 inches, 36.5 cm 2 (~52.0% screen-to-body ratio) panel, pushing a resolution of 320 x 480 pixels, 3:2 ratio (~165 ppi density). Colours look punchy and text stays clean, so you will not have much to complain about here. It is not trying to reinvent the wheel with its design, but it does look the part. You can pick it up in a few finishes, including Black.
Performance & Software
The Apple iPhone focuses on the essentials rather than chasing raw benchmark numbers. It runs iOS, upgradable to iOS 3.1.3 out of the box, so the software experience feels current.
Camera
The camera setup is one of the talking points here, with a 2 MP sensor doing the heavy lifting. It is not a pro camera rig, but for everyday memories it gets the job done nicely.
Battery
Battery duties are handled by a Li-Ion 1400 mAh, non-removable unit, which should comfortably see most people through a full day on a single charge.
Our Opinion
Coming to the important bit, our opinion on the Apple iPhone. This is a phone that does not try to be the flashiest option on the shelf, and honestly that works in its favour. It gets the basics right, offering a dependable main camera, a crisp display, which is exactly what most buyers are really after. In day-to-day use it feels like the kind of device you can rely on, whether you are replying to messages, scrolling through social media, watching videos or taking the odd photo. There are rivals that beat it in one area or another, as is always the case in this segment. Overall though, the Apple iPhone is easy to recommend to the right buyer.
