Phone Opinions Review

Apple has added another interesting option to its lineup with the all-new Apple iPhone 17 Pro, and on paper it looks like a device that wants to be your daily driver. Announced in 2025, September 09, it arrives at a time when the competition is as tight as ever.

Design & Display

Up front there is a 6.3 inches, 96.4 cm 2 (~89.4% screen-to-body ratio) screen, pushing a resolution of 1206 x 2622 pixels, 19.5:9 ratio (~460 ppi density), which is more than sharp enough for everyday use, streaming and a bit of gaming. It is not trying to reinvent the wheel with its design, but it does look the part. You can pick it up in a few finishes, including Silver.

Performance & Software

At the heart of it sits the Apple A19 Pro (3 nm), paired with 12GB of RAM. For the kind of tasks most of us throw at a phone, there is plenty of muscle here. It runs iOS 26, upgradable to iOS 27 out of the box, so the software experience feels current.

Camera

On the camera side, the Apple iPhone 17 Pro is led by a 48 MP main sensor (48 MP, f/1.8, 24mm (wide), 1/1.28", 1.22µm, dual pixel PDAF, sensor-shift OIS 48 MP, f/2.8…). Expect solid detail in good light, with the usual softness creeping in once the sun goes down.

Battery

Keeping the lights on is a Market-dependent versions: · Li-Ion 3998 mAh - Nano SIM model · Li-Ion 4252 mAh - eSIM only model cell, and that is a healthy number that keeps range anxiety at bay.

Our Opinion

Coming to the important bit, our opinion on the Apple iPhone 17 Pro. Apple has clearly gone for substance over gimmicks here, and we respect that approach. It gets the basics right, offering a dependable main camera, a crisp display, which is exactly what most buyers are really after. In day-to-day use it feels like the kind of device you can rely on, whether you are replying to messages, scrolling through social media, watching videos or taking the odd photo. Is it perfect? No phone is, and you will always find a sharper camera or a faster chip somewhere else for a little more money. But taken as a whole, the Apple iPhone 17 Pro is a sensible, well-judged choice that should keep most users happy for a good while.
