The Apple iPhone 13 mini is Apple's latest attempt to grab your attention, and after going through the spec sheet, there is a fair bit here worth talking about. Announced in 2021, September 14, it arrives at a time when the competition is as tight as ever.
Design & Display
On the front you get a 5.4 inches, 71.9 cm 2 (~85.1% screen-to-body ratio) panel, pushing a resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels, 19.5:9 ratio (~476 ppi density). Colours look punchy and text stays clean, so you will not have much to complain about here. It is not trying to reinvent the wheel with its design, but it does look the part. You can pick it up in a few finishes, including Starlight.
Performance & Software
Powering the Apple iPhone 13 mini is the Apple A15 Bionic (5 nm), paired with 4GB of RAM. That combination should handle day-to-day multitasking and most games without breaking a sweat. It runs iOS 15, upgradable to iOS 27 out of the box, so the software experience feels current.
Camera
On the camera side, the Apple iPhone 13 mini is led by a 12 MP main sensor (12 MP, f/1.6, 26mm (wide), 1/1.9", 1.7µm, dual pixel PDAF, sensor-shift OIS 12 MP, f/2.4, …). Point-and-shoot results are reliable, and that is exactly what most buyers want.
Battery
Battery duties are handled by a Li-Ion 2438 mAh (9.34 Wh) unit. With moderate use you can expect to end the day with charge to spare.
Our Opinion
Coming to the important bit, our opinion on the Apple iPhone 13 mini. Apple has clearly gone for substance over gimmicks here, and we respect that approach. It gets the basics right, offering a dependable main camera, a crisp display, which is exactly what most buyers are really after. For someone who simply wants a dependable daily driver that will not let them down halfway through the day, this ticks a lot of boxes. You could nitpick a few things, as you can with any phone in this bracket. Even so, the Apple iPhone 13 mini holds its own and represents a solid, no-nonsense buy.
